Shirali Puri

Founder of Ashirali Unravels

Meeting Shirali Puri in our BNI chapter was one of those rare moments where conversation simply flowed from the second we said hello. Beyond her incredible skill set, what truly amazed me was her intuitive nature. She has an uncanny ability to read between the lines, connect with people effortlessly, and bring genuine clarity to whatever she touches. We clicked immediately, and having someone with that level of emotional intelligence and sharpness in our network makes featuring her an absolute no-brainer.

The "Real Talk" | Social Konnections Q&A

What happens in the moment someone finally "clicks"?

To be honest the click and shift may seem to happen now but the aftereffects of this occur years after the coaching. Today when I receive messages from old clients from 5-10 years back stating how they are overcoming current blocks based on the insights they gained in our past coaching sessions, that makes me grateful. I learn something new every day from my clients.

What is the biggest lie we tell ourselves about success?

Many people do come to me in search of both achievement and happiness, and I share the story the monk shared with me 12 years back in the Ashram: “Happiness and sadness are right here. In every moment we live we choose what we want to live with today.”

For achievement my question goes back to the readers: “The thing that you want to achieve, is this something that you want or is this a story that you have bought into based on your life experiences?”

Who coached the coach?

I’ve been fortunate to have many mentors over the past 12 years, and two moments stand out.

The first was when my NLP trainer sent me to an ashram in a small village in Kerala to learn the art of slowing down before becoming a coach. That journey taught me to embrace the unknown and became the beginning of my coaching path.

The second was two years ago at Everest Base Camp, when my fitness was low and self-doubt was high. On day two, I was ready to give up. A local guide told me that being slow was actually an advantage at altitude. That shifted something in me. I decided to take it one step at a time—and eventually reached Base Camp.

Since then, whenever I feel stuck, I remind myself: one step at a time.

How do your own "messy middles" make you a better mentor?

I once asked one of my mentors, “I am so broken why would people come to me as a coach?” His answer changed the way I look at failure and being vulnerable. He said “The fact that you are broken is the exact reason why they will come to you. It is your unique experiences that will enable people to trust you and be vulnerable in front of you because you will not judge them.”

How do you help someone design a life that isn't a "template"?

Going back to basics is what works. I feel in the age of “highlight reels” we overcomplicate simple things. You do not need an elaborate morning routine to be productive.

What’s the one lesson you want your legacy to be built on?

The art of detachment!

As human beings we cling on to old beliefs, other’s opinion and expectations from the future self. This is our survival mechanism.

The only way to find your path is by letting go!
